Tracey, Lucia's Mum, came to talk to us about a range of Maori celebrations. She was an awesome speaker of Te Reo and knew so much we have to get her back next year to talk to us more about Te Rauparaha, the famous Maori chief.
Lucia had made us each a poi to practice our Kapahaka skills and we got to practise the long poi too. The best part was trying to make the conch shell make a noise. Traditionally it is heard at the beginning of a powhiri before the karanga.
